Celebrating Excellence in Ride Innovation: HUSS® wins IAAPA Brass Ring Award in two Categories

Award-winning success! At this year's IAAPA Brass Ring Awards, HUSS® was able to bring home two important achievements. The first delivery of the Break Dance 5, the “Laser Dance”, won the “Best New Major Ride/Attraction” category. In addition, the Sky Tower Multimedia concept was awarded second place in the “Best New Product Concept” category.

The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards were named after the rings given to riders on carousels in the early amusement parks and is considered one of the most important awards in the leisure industry. They recognize excellence and outstanding quality in the international world of attractions and entertainment, and are awarded to theme parks, water parks, zoos, museums, science centers, family entertainment centers and manufacturers.

The winners of the IAAPA Brass Ring Awards were announced at this year's IAAPA Expo Orlando, where HUSS® has traditionally been an exhibitor for many decades.

Best New Attraction: HUSS® Break Dance 5

The Break Dance 5 is the latest, innovative development of one of the most popular and well-known rides in the industry. HUSS® delivered the first version of this ride almost 40 years ago. Since then, the Break Dance has become a real classic, a crowd favorite at every funfair and in numerous amusement parks around the world.

This year, the first delivery of the Break Dance 5 celebrated its premiere at the Vienna Prater. The “Laser Dance” is a highlight among the range of attractions on offer at the legendary amusement park in the heart of Vienna, Austria. This new ride and the entire model are based on the unique “Break Dance formula”, with which HUSS® has been thrilling millions of passengers every year since 1985.

“With the Break Dance 5, we have further improved and modernized the well-known concept. HUSS® has added 30% more power to the attraction and increased the top speed by another 30%”, says Lars L. Hartmann, Chief Sales & Creative Officer at HUSS®.

The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards jury also highlighted two other unique features of the Break Dance 5: “Added DJ booth and operator booth in center of ride with two different types of queue lines - one more for families and the other more thrilling.”

The operator center stage is one of the clearly visible innovations on the Break Dance 5 model. In the middle of the attraction, the operator can orchestrate the ride and keep an overview of the action at the same time. It is also possible to place a DJ in the middle. Together with the various ride cycles and options for theming, lighting and sound, this creates a truly unique ride experience for both passengers and the surrounding audience.

Best New Product Concept: HUSS® Sky Tower Multimedia

For many years, the Sky Tower from HUSS® has been one of the iconic highlights and landmarks of many amusement parks. With the Sky Tower Multimedia, HUSS® takes the classic to a new dimension, as this ride is two attractions in one.

For the jury of the IAAPA Brass Ring Award, the Sky Tower Multimedia is a successful blend of the familiar observation tower concept with new impulses: “An observation tower that takes guest down a level into a 360° 3D theater, then go into traditional tower.”

Once passengers have boarded the spacious gondola, it descends through an iris-shaped opening into the lower level. A large 360° cinema awaits passengers in which individual multimedia content offers an impressive, immersive experience. The journey can take them to the deep sea, for example, but also to outer space or other unique scenarios. The gondola can then ascend gently upwards and passengers can enjoy a stunning view through the large panoramic windows.

“With the Sky Tower Multimedia, immersive film experiences meet spectacular views!”, says Mirko J. Schulze, Chief Executive Officer, who goes more into detail: “The benefits of this innovative concept are the ultra-accessibility (there are no height, weight or age restrictions for riders), the usability as a highlight in an amusement park or as a stand-alone attraction and the high advertising value as an iconic landmark visible from afar. In addition, this model is easily adaptable to the specific requirements of operators: with individual media content, theming or illumination.”

The Sky Tower Multimedia is not just a theoretical concept: This year, the first project has already been delivered to the Golden Bay Resort in Shenzhen, China, and the equipment is ready for installation.

Looking ahead: Continuous further development and new concepts

In recent years, HUSS® has presented numerous innovations and new versions of its well-known ride models. This year's double award at the IAAPA Brass Ring Awards is a further incentive for HUSS® to continuously develop existing attraction concepts and implement innovative, forward-looking designs and ideas.
